Rivet Fabricate, located in New Plymouth, Taranaki, Aotearoa New Zealand, specialises in sheet metal, engineering and manufacturing solutions. Our skilled team takes pride in our impressive portfolio of high-quality, large-scale architectural projects, created during our 30+ years of industry experience.

Who we are

Rivet Fabricate tackles a diverse range of design, manufacturing and installation projects, big and small. Our proud team of fabricators and installers crafted the iconic mirror-finished architectural masterpiece, New Plymouth’s ‘the Len Lye Centre’, but can also help with smaller tasks, like repairs and maintenance.

Founded in 1991 as Scott’s Sheet Metal, we became Rivet Ltd in 2005. We recently became Rivet Fabricate. Our design and manufacturing services are based in New Plymouth, Taranaki and extend across Aotearoa, New Zealand as well as the Pacific Islands. With a continually evolving lineup of products, fabrications and proprietary architectural claddings, Rivet Fabricate is at the forefront of innovation, adapting to the times while maintaining our commitment to quality and service.

We joined the Excel Group in 2021. Excel Group is one of the largest and most experienced industrial and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning companies in Aotearoa New Zealand. This ensures we are well supported in delivering the best possible solutions to our nationwide customers.

Key people

Our Rivet journey began in 1991 as Scott’s Sheet Metal, we remain a proud family-owned business. Our modern workshop is equipped with the latest technology, underpinned by a commitment to quality and robust safety systems that ensure we consistently meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.

Steve Scott, our Director, brings more than 30 years of experience in the sheet metal industry. As a respected leader, he actively fosters collaboration and supports initiatives like Taranaki Futures and the Network of Trades. After acquiring a majority share in Rivet in 2005, Steve has continued to drive our vision forward.

Director, Owner​

Steve has been at the helm of Rivet Group for more than 30 years, guiding us through countless projects and making a lasting impact in the sheet metal industry. Under his leadership, Rivet has delivered a wide range of solutions across industries – from food and beverage production, supermarket installations, and commercial kitchens to tanks, ducting, handrails, and distilleries. Steve’s passion, however, shines brightest in our bespoke projects, such as the iconic Len Lye Centre, the striking Ngāmotu House facade, and various architectural metalworks that bring unique visions to life. Beyond his role in the business, Steve is a dedicated advocate for youth entering trades and actively supports community-focused initiatives. His commitment to quality craftsmanship and community impact continues to shape Rivet Group’s legacy.

Andy Carnegie​

Business Manager​

Andy is a people and solutions-focused Business Manager motivated by the unique project creation process. Trained as a Fitter – Welder, Andy has spent over 25 years in the food industry as a tradesman and later in Engineering and Project management. Andy’s history with the food industry brings a unique understanding of the specialised solutions required, and the vision map out solutions. Andy has also gained qualifications in other trades that help ensure end to end solutions can be offered to suit our clients needs. A men’s mental health advocate, Andy also dedicates himself to supporting others through challenging experiences. This extends to his colleagues in trades industries. Andy and Steve complement each other brilliantly, working with a combined approach that benefits both the client and the wider Rivet team.

Jeremy Price​

Project Supervisor

Jeremy Price is a project delivery focused Project Supervisor. Like most of our team, he has a trade background, Jeremy’s is in Fitting and Turning. Jeremy has experience with most aspects of engineering, from intricate machining to heavy construction. He has a great eye for detail as well as a thorough understanding of customer expectations. He’s detail-oriented and laser focused on precision as well as timely, efficient project delivery. Jeremy enjoys being a part of the excellent team at Rivet and thrives on the challenges of the unique work environment. In his spare time he is part of one of the country’s doorslammer drag racing teams (the ultimate combination of man, power and machine).

Alex Bellis

Business Development Manager

Alex began his career as a stainless steel fabricator and quickly advanced through to managing multiple fabrication shops. Throughout his career, Alex has specialised in every aspect of commercial kitchen projects – from design and fabrication to equipment procurement and installation – creating kitchens for everything from small coffee kiosks through to hotels and mobile facilities. He joined Rivet early in 2024 and brings more than 20 years of Hospitality sector expertise with him. Passionate about seeing projects through from concept to completion, Alex also has a talent for helping customers find practical, budget-friendly solutions that bring their visions to life.

We maintain a rigorous and independent quality control system. For specialist inspections, we collaborate with trusted third parties, including non-destructive testing (NDT). Each project is carefully documented with detailed ITPs and MDRs, ensuring full traceability and accountability. Quality is at the heart of what we do, driving the consistency and excellence that our clients rely on.
